ADB: VN needs to stabilise economy for robust 2010-2011 (17/09)

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said on September 16 that Vietnam needs to continue measures to stabilise its economy, even to slow growth in 2009 to be better prepared to resume strong economic growth in 2010-2011.

When asked what Vietnam should do in the event of a global economic recession triggered by the US financial crisis, Dr Vo Tri Thanh, Director of the Department for International Integration Studies under the Central Institute of Economic Management (CIEM), said that Vietnam needs to stabilise the macroeconomy and keep confident.

Monetary and fiscal policy control under high inflation in Vietnam

The paper focuses on inflationary issues of Vietnam under current situation with three main parts. The first chapter reviews theoretic framework of inflation, in which concentrating on monetary nature of inflation. Inflationary situation of the world and Vietnam will be discussed in chapter 2 as an effort to figuring out rationales of inflation in the world generally and Vietnam particularly. Chapter 3 focuses on monetary policy management with at inflation curbing measures taken in Vietnam currently, while providing relevant remarks and policy recommendations for the future time.
