Vốn FDI khởi sắc (26/9)

Con số trên 1,04 tỷ USD vốn đầu tư trực tiếp nước ngoài (FDI) đăng ký mới và tăng thêm trong 20 ngày đầu tháng 9/2012, nâng tổng vốn FDI cam kết trong 9 tháng qua lên 9,52 tỷ USD đã củng cố thêm những dự báo tích cực trước đó trong chuyển dịch thu hút vốn FDI.

Half a billion U.S. dollars is enough to build some ten quality hospitals to ease the current overload in the country’s healthcare system, or to develop hundreds of schools to further improve education and thus develop human resources, or to help build some 100,000 houses for the poor to enhance the country’s social welfare. Such developments, deemed as urgent to soothe the public grievances in these spheres, are hindered or restricted under the Government’s austerity program that focuses on scaling down public investments for macroeconomic stability.

Trade balance continues to improve (25/9)

In the first eight months of 2012 imports grew 6.7 percent while exports increased by 17.8 percent, and the trade deficit stood at about US$6.2 million, equal to 0.08 percent of the export value. In the context of numerous difficulties facing the economy, these were good results which reflected effective import management efforts aimed at maintaining the country's balance of trade balance figures.
