Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) Director Do Nhat Hoang pointed out eight problems affecting the quality of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam at a recent conference reviewing 25 years of FDI attraction in the country. Ineffective investment promotion is one of those problems.

Easing difficulties in attracting investment for coastal Ezs (26/6)

Vietnam has 15 coastal Economic Zones (EZs) in the northern, central and southern regions with a total area of 662,249 ha. However, these EZs have only attracted US$31 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) capital and VND564 trillion of domestic investment capital, accounting for about 40 percent of the investment attraction required, which remains a modest amount compared with their potential, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MOPI).
