Investors remain absent in business efforts to apply global financial and accounting standards. This has left investors feel unsure about the information related to the global financial market. To resolve this problem, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Grant Thornton organized an international roundtable workshop in the UK in the fourth quarter of 2011 and issued the 'Putting investors at the heart of the financial system' report on what investors were interested in terms of standard financial reports.

In the first eight months of 2012 imports grew 6.7 percent while exports increased by 17.8 percent, and the trade deficit stood at about US$6.2 million, equal to 0.08 percent of the export value. In the context of numerous difficulties facing the economy, these were good results which reflected effective import management efforts aimed at maintaining the country's balance of trade balance figures.
