Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) was estimated to have risen 7.7 percent in March from a year earlier, slower than an 8.4 percent increase last month, government data showed Wednesday.
The March rise compared with annual inflation of 8.8 percent in January, 8.4 percent in December and 8.5 percent in November.
The General Statistics Office said food prices - which account for nearly half the price basket used to calculate inflation - would have risen in March by 8.9 percent from a year earlier, versus a steep rise of 10.1 percent last month.
Food prices surged as usual around the lunar New Year festival in early February and eased significantly afterwards.
Vietnam aims to keep inflation below 8 percent this year.
