Overseas Vietnamese lured to IZs, EPZs (7/4)

The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the HCM City Management Board of Industrial Zones (IZs) and Export Processing Zones (EPZs) have signed an agreement combining the two bodies.

Under the agreement inked April 5, the two sides will join forces in the call for investment from overseas Vietnamese in HCM City’s IZs and EPZs, with focus falling especially on the hi-tech field. They plan to hold seminars to promote investment and trade between IZs, EPZs and companies owned by overseas Vietnamese.

In the sci-tech field, the two sides will cooperate in research, and apply sci-tech achievements developed by overseas Vietnamese to management and investment in IZs and EPZs. To this end, workshops will facilitate exchanges of experience in technology and sci-tech.

Human resource training will see the two groups combine with the Technology and Business Administration Semi-public Colleague and the Overseas Vietnamese Sci-tech Club for training of technicians to staff enterprises in IZs and EPZs.

The two sides will also research policies and incentives for overseas Vietnamese investors.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nguyen Chon Trung, Chairman of the HCM City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and Vu Van Hoa, Head of the Management Board of HCM City IZs and EPZs said that the agreement would strengthen and promote investment by overseas Vietnamese in IZs and EPZs, and heighten their role in bringing advanced technology to the homeland.
