Party Congress adopts resolution
Manh, 65, will stay at the helm of the powerful politburo that is the governing nerve center of Vietnam, one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
The final politburo lineup was released Tuesday morning. The National Assembly must formally confirm all new government positions in a legislative session that may come any time between next month and early next year.
Manh was reelected by the party's new Central Committee on the seventh day of the eight-day national congress of the party.
"Manh was reelected by the 160 (central committee) delegates, obtaining 80 percent of the vote," a party source said.
Manh and his new team will have to answer growing calls for political and economic change in a country of 83 million people, two thirds of them under 30.
They have a busy year ahead.
