Following are the major events in Vietnam scheduled for Aug. 28-Sept. 3:
- Aug. 28: press briefing to announce the President's decision on amnesty for inmates on the occasion of the National Day in Hanoi;
- Aug. 28: conference on the ordinance of democracy at the grassroots levels, held by the President Office in Hanoi;
- Aug. 28: Vietnamese-Chinese children forum, themed "Children Participation in Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking", held by the Vietnam Women's Union and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), in Hanoi;
- Aug. 28-Sept. 3: the National Boxing Championship in central Nghe An province;
- Aug. 29: awarding ceremony of the "Initiatives of Adolescents in Mitigating Discrimination Against HIV/AIDS-Positive People" contest, in Hanoi;
- Aug. 29-31: visit of Lao Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh;
- Aug. 29-Sept. 1: cultural festival of the H'Mong ethnic group in the northern mountainous province of Son La;
- Aug. 30-Sept. 4: the Asian Body-building Championship in southern Dong Nai province;
- Aug. 31-Sept. 5: international exposition on construction materials and interior design, Inter-Deco Vietnam 2006, at Me Linh Plaza in Hanoi;
- Sept. 1-15: the 24th national photo exhibition, themed "New Rhythm of Life", at the Vietnam Cultural and Art Center;
- Sept. 2: the National Day;
- Sept. 2: awarding ceremony of the "2006 Vietnam Golden Star”; art performance, themed "Marvellously, Vietnamese Spirit", at the Hanoi Opera House.
