Viet Nam attracts US$350 million FDI in January

Viet Nam attracted US$350 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in January, up 2 percent against last year, according to the Foreign Investment Department (FID) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Of that figure, US$305 million comes from 29 FDI projects that were just licensed in January and the other US$45 million was additional investment from 10 existing projects.

Japan, is a leading investor in Viet Nam, plans to build the Ho Xuong Rong new residential zone worth US$100 million in the northern mountainous Thai Nguyen province, said the FID.

According to the FID, the number of investors seeking business opportunities in Viet Nam is increasing. The Hon Hai Precision Industry of Taiwan is conducting a survey in northern Bac Ninh province to invest US$1billions in building a hi-tech electronic factory there.
