
60 FDI enterprises honoured

Sixty most outstanding foreign direct invested enterprises in Vietnam have been selected for the Golden Dragon Award 2006, the prestigious award presented to FDI businesses in Vietnam in recognition of their effective business activities.
The winners belongs to 12 categories including automobile and motorbikes; agriculture, forestry and fisheries; construction, construction materials and real estate trading; finance, banking and insurance; garments and textiles, electronics; and information technology.
At a press conference announcing the winners of this year’s Dragon Awards, Mr Phan Huu Thang, head of the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Department of Foreign Investment stressed that FDI enterprises, especially the winners of the Golden Dragon Award, have made great contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development in general and for the success of foreign investment in Vietnam in 2006 in particular.
The award presentation ceremony is scheduled for February 4 at the Hanoi Opera House and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television’s VTV 1 channel.
The award is presented annually since 2001 to encourage FDI businesses operating in Vietnam.
Prior to the presentation ceremony, on February 3, a Golf FDI Tournament will be held for the first time to raise donations for construction of a school in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.
