The VN-Index rallied from a six-day slide to bounce back and close at just over 1,000 points by the end of trading on April 18.

The Index rose by 3.7 percent, up 35.4 points to end on 1,001.12 points.

Almost all shares at the bourse saw gains with only four stocks recording a decline. More than 4.12 million shares were traded at a value of VND 453 billion ($28.3 million) at the country's biggest market.

The HaSTC index in the capital also made inroads, up over five percent on the previous day. HaSTC's rally of 20.02 points had the market closing at 385.57 points.

More than 1.38 million shares valued at VND 184.1 billion were brought and sold at the session. 66 shares
recorded increases while 18 were in decline and two remained unchanged.

Foreign investors bought 992,000 shares, double the amount they sold for the day.

Observers said that the fluctuations in the Vietnamese markets were due to a period of needed corrections that have since been made.
