Vietnam’s total exports of farm produce should reach US$11 billion by 2010 under a government project to boost the development of forest and farm products.

The Government has urged businesses to pay more attention to highly competitive processing industries to produce forest and farm products for export, such as rice, coffee and tea.

Vietnam has striven to keep the total level of processed rice output at 100 percent and that of rice output for home consumption and export at 55 percent, while coffee exports will stand at 30 percent and coffee powder at 10 percent by 2010.

The government said it is also necessary to focus on increasing the density of other processed products such as cashew nuts, sugar cane, paper, and wood products.
