New Government Finalized

The five Deputy Prime Ministers are Nguyen Sinh Hung, Pham Gia Khiem, Truong Vinh Trong, Hoang Trung Hai and Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Phung Quang Thanh received 100% of the votes for the position of Defense Minister.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, on behalf of the 12th National Assembly, gave a speech after the NA had adopted a resolution approving his list of appointments.

PM Dung said the new government would step up reform to realize the targets of the current five-year plan (2006-2010).

He said he would apply measures to help Viet Nam develop in a fast and sustainable way and forge ahead to become an industrial nation with an administrative system of the people, by the people and for the people.

He pledged the government’s resolve to combat bureaucracy, corruption and waste, and to reduce administrative red tape.

This morning, the NA approved President Nguyen Minh Triet’s nominations for the Council for Defense and Security.

The council’s chairman is President Nguyen Minh Triet; PM Nguyen Tan Dung is the vice chairman.
Other members are NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, Minister of Defense Phung Quang Thanh and Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh.

The 22 ministers and agency chiefs approved by the NA:

3. Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade
