
Stock market undergoes adjustments after stunning increases (08/10)

The good news following the Prime Minister’s approval of Vietcombank’s equitisation plan and a optimistic report on the local stock market by HSBC were among the explanations for the positive development of the market.
Continuing the upward trend last week, the VN-Index this week saw increases in the first three sessions of the week and underwent adjustments in the other two sessions.
On the first session of the week on October 1, the market indicator gained a sharp 37.53 points to 1,084.39. On October 2, it continued to see an increase of 15.09 points. On October 3, the VN-Index exceeded the 1,000 point level, closing at 1,106.6 points, up 7.12 points. On the last two sessions of the week, the index lost 18.84 points and 6. 13 points respectively, closing the week at 1,081.63.
In total, the VN-Index registered an increase of 34.77 points against the closing level at the end of last week.
Trading volumes and values on all sessions in the week remained at high levels, at around 15 million shares traded in a session for over VND 1.5 trillion.
In Hanoi, the HASTC-Index saw four impressively upbeat sessions and only one declining session on October 5. October 1 was the most impressive session with the index up 24.75 points to 334.49, a record figure for several months now on the Hanoi bourse.
Of the 91 listed stocks, only two decreased. Of the 89 gainers, up to 28 stocks reached their ceiling prices on this session. Over 4.8 million shares were traded on October 1 for a total of nearly VND 543 billion.
On the last session of the week, HASTC-Index slipped 4.37 points to 345.11. This is the first decrease of the index after nine consecutive gains. However, trading volume and value remained at high levels. Nearly VND 610 billion was spend by investors for the trading of over 5.2 million shares.
According to analysts, the adjustments of the market in the last trading sessions of the week was no surprise after impressive, consecutive gains.
