
NA deputies to question Gov’t about inflation

“The public is looking forward to the Q&A session. If it is well organized, we will solve problems,” said NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.
Trong said the Q&A session will take place within one day and some cabinet members will have to answer questions raised by NA deputies. It is planned that around 3-4 ministers and the Presiding Judge of the Supreme People’s Court or the Head of the Supreme People’s Procuracy will be questioned for 90 minutes each.
At the meeting of the NA Standing Committee on February 25, committee members discussed questions that will be raised to cabinet members.
Chairman of the Council for Ethnic Minority Affairs, Ksor Phuoc said of 21 questions that the NA Standing Committee has received, many are about the CPI increase; and resultantly, inflation will be a key issue at the Q&A session.
Chairman of the NA Office, Tran Dinh Dan, said agricultural losses because of the recent cold front is also a concern of NA deputies.
NA Vice Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son said of 21 questions raised by 11 NA deputies, eight are directed at the Government in general, two at the Prime Minister, and the remaining are for various Ministries like Agriculture and Rural Development, Education and Training, Finance, Health, Home Affairs, Transportation, and the Presiding Judge of the Supreme People’s Court.
“From now till the end of March, we expect many more questions to arise. The NA Standing Committee will have to collect, classify and select the most important for the session. The questions must focus on the most urgent issues, for example inflation,” NA Chairman Trong said.
It is scheduled that the mid-term Q&A session will be aired live on VTV and radio’s Voice of Vietnam (VOV).
On the morning of February 25, the NA Standing Committee considered the draft bill on atomic energy, which will be considered and approved at the third NA session in May.
