FDI promises to Vietnam surge (29/08)

Between January and August, the country approved licenses for 772 new projects with a combined registered capital of $46.3 billion, 400 percent more than the amount promised in the same period a year earlier, according to the Foreign Investment Agency.
The remainder of the promised FDI was earmarked for 210 operational projects.
In 2007, the country lured FDI promises of $21.3 billion, with $8 billion actually spent on FDI-funded projects during the year.
