
Party leader calls for balanced growth, social security, justice

He was speaking at the ninth plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Ha Noi Monday.
The ninth meeting of the Party Central Committee (PCC), where many important issues will be discussed and decided, will last till January 14.
Mr. Manh noted that the meeting would review the implementation of the tenth Party Congress resolution in the first half of the term (2006-2008), two years of the implementation of the third PCC meeting’s resolution on the prevention of corruption and wastefulness, and ten years of the implementation of the third PCC meeting’s resolution (term VIII) on cadre strategy.
He added that the issues discussed during the meeting would help continue to increase the Party leadership, address questions such as the relationship between the growth rate and development quality, between rapid growth and sustainable development, between economic growth and social welfare and equality, between the renewal of the economy and the renewal of the political system, between renewal and stability, between independence, self-reliance and world economic integration, and issues relating to the building of cadres and the prevention of corruption.
“The issues discussed and the experience drawn from the facts will not only hold significance in the second half of the term but they will also contribute to the country’s renewal and development in the next periods,” the General Secretary said.
The General Secretary asked PCC members and all attendees to exhibit a strong sense of responsibility, intelligence, creativity and seriousness to contribute to the success of the meeting.
