CPI rises by 0.62% in September (28/09)

The increase doubled what was initially forecast.
Ten commodity groups were used to calculate the country's consumer price index, which saw price increases in transport, with a 2.37 per cent rise. Education services were up by 4.33 per cent, while remaining groups saw slight increase under 1 per cent.
According to Do Thi Ngoc, an official of the GSO, petrol prices have increased, which resulted in corresponding increases in transport prices.
In September, the restaurant industry saw a slight increase at 0.05 per cent, while food and foodstuff prices alone slipped by 0.85 per cent, which was attributed to the bumper harvest in the south.
Education services are predicted to continue increasing. Many universities and schools have yet to start the new school year.
Gold prices in September rose by 2.04 per cent due to the increase in global gold prices, which rose by 28.65 per cent against prices from December of last year. The price of the US dollar dropped slightly by 0.23 per cent.
She said in the remaining months of 2009, commodity prices would increase with the arrival of annual festivities.
According to the GSO, CPI for the entire year is not expected to exceed 7 per cent.
