This database includes more than 5700 administrative procedures, 9000 legal documents and 100,000 administrative forms of 24 ministries, agencies and 63 provinces and cities throughout the country.

This is the first time Vietnam has built such a national database of administration procedures applied at community, district, provincial and central levels.

“The national administrative database is not only an effective tool to raise the transparency of the institutional system through enhancing the public’s access, but also helps diminish the time and expenditure for both government agencies and businesses,” said chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Michalak said: “National administrative database creates opportunities for all individuals and organisations to more clearly understand their rights and duties related to administrative formalities. This confirms the Vietnamese government’s strong commitment in building a professional and effective administration, facilitating investment and economic growth”.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung emphasised that the launching of the national administrative database is a great achievement, marking the growth of Vietnam’s administration.

According to Dung, if the current formalities are reduced by 30 percent, it will benefit the people and society, worth 130 trillion dong within ten years, equivalent to 1.4 percent of GDP growth a year.
