
Banking 2010 focuses on modernization (31/05)

The event was co-organized by the State Bank of Vietnam’s Information Technology Department and the International Data Group (IDG). As the global economy is moving into recovery, the banking sector is carrying out its plans for 2010 to use more information and communications technology (ICT). It plays a key role in resolving issues related to automated banking services, the security of information systems and risk management, as well as introducing the latest and most modern IT applications in management, governance, and administration. Banking Vietnam 2010 focused on strategic planning to develop banking technology during the renewal period. This includes non-cash payments, and new banking technologies to enhance corporate governance and risk management. The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Nguyen Van Giau, stated that the conference had got together solution providers, Vietnam’s banks and numerous clients. “Banking Vietnam 2010 has attracted managers, researchers, specialists who currently work in the financial, monetary, banking and ICT industries both domestically and internationally. They were able to share information on the latest solutions and advanced technologies which helps banks become innovated and enhances the rapid development of ICT in the right direction with more efficiency,” he said. The conference’s agenda included keynote speeches by the leaders of international technology corporations and the financial and banking industry, who introduced strategic plans for the development of the banking industry in the 2011-2020 period, and non-cash payments as well as a plan to turn Hanoi into a model of automated banking. The conference’s programme included four sessions with 45 speakers and a panel of experts will approach multiple in-depth topics to modernize the banking sector, enhance corporate governance & management, banking technology and non-cash payments, and the security of information system and services. To celebrate the 1,000th Thang Long – Hanoi anniversary, Banking Vietnam 2010 also showcased the latest banking services used by more than 20 banks in Hanoi. There was also an area for innovations, displaying state-of-the-art banking services and technologies such as: Core banking; Vitualization; IT governance, IT project management; Market, Credit and Operation risk management; Information system auditing, Compliance and Security standards, Data Security & Storage, and Payment solutions.
