A sum of VND 225 million has been given to the Thanh Son Limited Company in Xuyen Moc District to develop a cashew nut processing model through the installation of a cashew nut processing machine costing nearly VND1 billion. The machine has an output of one tonne per eight hours, providing 80-90 percent clean shelling. The Ba Ria-Vung Tau Industry Promotion Center has also supported the company in developing a cashew processing plant with total investment of VND 11 billion and output of 20 tonnes per day. Seven hundred workers will have an opportunity to work in the plant with a per capita wage of VND 2 million per month.
Meanwhile, farmers in Xuyen Moc District have benefited from the development of a dry alcohol processing model using cashew juice which protects the environment and improved working conditions. Five tonnes of cashew nuts per ha will produce 440 kg of dry alcohol adding eight more million dongs for farmers if the market prices range from VND 16,000 to VND 20,000. In addition, funds have been given to build an environmental treatment facility in the Hac Dich No 1 Industrial Park in Tan Thanh and the Ben Dam Industrial Park on the Con Dao Island. A solar energy run hot water system has also been installed in kindergartens in Dat Do via industry promotion funding.
Social welfare has been secured
Considered the significance of vocational training in industry promotion program, the Center has provided various vocational classes in order to train a contingent of skilled workers supplying enterprises and production facilities in the province. Recently 200 workers in the field of sea product processing have been trained to change their jobs to make bamboo and rattan products in Long Son Commune and Long Thanh District.
Tran Thi Kim Thu affirmed that vocational training is a top issue in the province's industry promotion. Although funding allocated to vocational training is not high, its effectiveness has been proved, providing stable jobs for more than 80 percent of trainees with average wages from VND1.2 billion to VND1.5 billion. People living in rural areas have seen considerable improvements in their living standards.
The province has paid attention to propagandizing rural industry. For example, it has organized successfully a second rural industrial product trade fair in the southern region and supported enterprises by subsidizing half the booth hiring fee.
With effective scientific methods and great efforts, the industry promotion has created a new face for rural industry in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and increased the proportion of industrial output in the province's economic structure./.
