Production Enterprises and the Energy Question (07/12)

07/12/2011 - 10 Lượt xem

Why has the construction material sector been selected to promote energy efficient production?
In recent years, the growth of Vietnamese enterprises has been recognized generally at an annual 10-percent rate. Increased production has caused an increase in related energy consumption.
At present, the total energy consumed by the building material sector accounts for approximately 20 percent of the country's total consumption. However the sector has great potential to save 10-40 percent energy consumption which makes it a key focus in the energy efficient production campaign.
The existing global economic depression has also affected Vietnamese enterprises considerably pressuring them to renovate production and trade; including construction material enterprises.
The Governmental Decision 73/2011/ND-CP issued on August 24th 2011 stipulates that Vietnamese enterprises must audit their energy consumption and report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade or local Department of Industry and Trade. If they cannot carry out the audits, independent audit firms should be hired to do the job. Those who do not comply with the stipulation will subject to a fine of up to VND70 million.
What are obstacles to energy efficient production?
There are several obstacles, but the largest is the investment capital as energy efficient production solution packages demand considerable amounts of money.
In addition, energy efficient production is new for most Vietnamese companies, who have little knowledge about it and find it hard to access.
What are EEC-Hanoi's solutions?
EEC-Hanoi has recently provided domestic enterprises with energy efficient production solution packages, especially enterprises in the construction material sector. Moreover, they have also financed to materialize provided packages.
For example, the center organized training courses for these enterprises which introduce the Law on Energy Efficiency and Conservation as well as related solution packages.
In addition, it has assisted domestic enterprises with free energy consumption audits and searches for suitable energy efficient production solution packages.
In addition to providing consultancy services on the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Law and auditing energy consumption, EEC-Hanoi has also managed to set up energy monitoring systems in some key production enterprises and guided them through the installation process.
In June 2011, the center set up energy monitoring systems at workshops of the two steel production and processing enterprises in the Phung Xa Commune, Thach That District, Hanoi, after carrying out their audits. Both of them were later financed with nearly VND60 million each to renovate their production lines. The center will monitor and evaluate their energy efficient achievements in about six or 12 months.
EEC-Hanoi is committed to offer more energy efficient production solution packages and to finance domestic related production enterprises more in the near future./.
