Modern industrial development
Since
early years of the 90s, Tay Ninh's industry sector began with
agricultural processing run by high capacity plants such as Nuoc Trong
Sugar Plant, Bourbon Sugar Plant (France) now known as Bourbon Tay Ninh
Joint Stock Company and Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company. Thus, to
date there are three sugar plants with the largest scale in the
province, creating favorable conditions for Tay Ninh to develop its
35,000 ha sugarcane material region.
Apart
from sugarcane, starch cassava processing industry has also seen a
rapid development. Today there are about 80 starch cassava processing
plants in the province, of these four plants have a capacity of over
100 tonnes of starch per day and about 500,000 tonnes of starch cassava
in Tay Ninh are produced every year.
In
addition, Tay Ninh Province has set up 34 rubber latex processing
plants with a capacity of over 100 tonnes per year, most of processed
products are exported. Although industrial production industries such
as construction material production, mechanical engineering and garment
and textiles do not develop as strongly as agricultural processing,
they still supply to the market many essential products and offer jobs
to a great number of laborers. Tay Ninh Province has also established
some industrial zones such as Bourbon-An Hoa and Phuoc Dong-Boi Loi,
contributing to the provincial industrialization. In the first half of
this year, the provincial production value reached over VND18 trillion,
an year on year increase of 28.91 percent. Tay Ninh is striving to
build a sustainable industry sector that has a suitable structure and
matches its practical conditions, potentials and advantages.
Developing commerce, services and economic border gate zones
Do
Thanh Hoa, the Director of Tay Ninh's Industry and Trade Department
said according to the provincial action plan on trade and services
development in the 2011-2015 period, with vision to 2020, it strives to
register a 14.5-15 percent growth in the service sector with a average
production value increase of 14 percent or higher annually in the
2011-2015 period; the total retail sales of consumer goods and service
revenue to grow 25 percent per year and export revenue recording 20
percent per year. In the 2016-2020 period, the service sector strives
to post a annual 15-15.5 percent growth and export revenue growth rate
at 23 to 25 percent per year.
Located
in a favorable position which borders Cambodia and as a gateway to Ho
Chi Minh City (HCMC) with Moc Bai Economic Border Gate Zone and Xa Mat
Economic Border Gate Zone, investment activities in these economic
zones have made a significant contribution to the shift of provincial
economic structure in the orientation of increasing the proportion of
industrial, service sectors. As for traffic planning, Tay Ninh will
develop highway roads connecting HCMC-Moc Bai along the Trans-Asia road
to the east of Moc Bai Economic Border Gate Zone.
Combining agricultural and industrial production
In
recent years, production value of agriculture-forestry-fishery sectors
have registered an annual increase of seven percent with growing yields
of major crops like sugarcane, cassava, rubber and rice. With the
target to achieve a sustainable agriculture and rural economic
development, the provincial agriculture sector has played an important
role to promote industrial production, especially in agriculture and
forestry processing industries.
In
addition, the local agriculture sector will boost high-tech application
in production and gradually form a clean agriculture. By 2015, it will
strive to increase agriculture-forestry-fishery annual production value
up to 5.5 percent per year; proportion of animal husbandry should be 20
percent or more and that of agriculture in provincial GDP from 18-19
percent.
To
achieve these targets, the provincial agriculture sector will continue
to boost to the shift of agricultural and economic structure associated
with industrial processing; build a cultivation model which combines
aquaculture, plant and animal breeding; combine agriculture, forestry
and fishery with eco-tourism to raise output value and profits. Tay
Ninh Province will also develop concentrated agricultural production
areas for growing export-oriented crops and for domestic consumption as
well, especially HCMC.
By
following right directions and taking effective measures, Tay Ninh's
various sectors including industry, agriculture, trade, services and
economic border gate zones have gradually played the central role in
promoting local economic growth./.
