The Ministry of Industry and Trade recently announced a draft circular regulating temporary import for re-export, transit goods and storing several kinds of goods at bonded warehouses.

According to the draft circular, to temporarily import for re-export businesses must have a minimum two-year experience in import and export and deposit VND5 billion for environmental treatment. As for temporary import of frozen food for re-export, businesses must have warehouses/holding yards to facilitate their temporary import.
According to Decree 12, businesses are permitted to keep temporarily-imported goods for 120 days and to extend the stay twice (increasing the total temporary import duration to 180 days). However, the draft circular requires businesses to keep their temporary imports in Vietnam for no more than 45 days and to extend only once for a maximum 15 days. After that, temporary imports will be confiscated in accordance with the regulations./.
