This plan was finalized on September 25 and amendments, supplements to the Law on Personal Income Tax will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval in the forthcoming session.
At the early September session of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Finance and Budget Committee did not support the plan, explaining that it did not match the actual socioeconomic condition in Vietnam, and proposed a starting point of VND7 million and a deduction level of VND2.8 million.
However, this proposal was not persuasive to the National Assembly Standing Committee. At the meeting on September 25, the Government-proposed plan was re-discussed and received support of the Finance and Budget Committee. The plan will be submitted to the National Assembly at its October session.
Before that, the Ministry of Finance had a meeting with the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee to discuss the budget estimates for 2013. The country's budgetary situation is predicted to remain difficult next year with higher expenses on social security./.
