Of these, some craft villages such as Dong Ky wood handicraft village, Phu Lang pottery village and Dai Bai bronze casting village bring high economic value and create jobs for many local laborers and those coming from other provinces.
Being aware of the importance of craft villages in the socioeconomic development process, especially in promoting the provincial rural industries, Bac Ninh's Department of Industry and Trade has greatly concentrated on investment and settlement of every issues with a particular focus on training human resources to boost the development of local craft villages.
Accordingly, over the past five years, through the Industrial Promotion funding, the Center trained and improved skills for over 12,600 laborers, mostly in short-term courses (below one year). The main occupations in those training courses are wood handicraft, bamboo and rattan making, industrial sewing and pottery.
Notably, vocational training for rural laborers in the province is based on the connection among State management agencies, enterprises and laborers, resulting in good training quality and the rates of trainees finding jobs are also high.
In addition, the Center is also active in training human resources for the expansion of new occupations in non-agricultural areas. After a period of time, many occupations have seen positive developments such as industrial sewing, mechanical engineering in Thuan Thanh and Luong Tai districts and industrial fiber weaving in Tu Son Town.
Talking about the success of local vocational training, leader of Bac Ninh's Center for Industry Promotion and Industrial Development Consultation said the positive results achieved were attributed to the close connection among State management agencies, enterprises and laborers to ensure jobs for trainees. In addition, the province also actively supported propaganda programs to help raise rural laborers' awareness of the policies that they could benefit from when participating in vocational training courses.
Traditional craft villages is an advantage of Bac Ninh Province and the strong growth of local craft villages in recent years has made a good contribution to the rapid development of provincial rural industry. To promote this advantage, especially to fulfill the target of each commune having one craft village by 2015 and each commune having one to two craft villages and all hamlets having at least one non-agricultural occupation by 2020, apart from training human resources, Bac Ninh Province will also organize trade promotion programs with priorities given to tax and lending policies and production platforms./.
