The forum was a good chance for
state administrative bodies, economic experts and the business community
to analyze and realize the challenges and opportunities for export in
order to offer suitable solutions to sustainable export development. At
the forum, enterprises could also speak directly with experts and state
administrative bodies to removes difficulties and share experience in
export promotion.
Addressing the forum, Nguyen
Hong Duong, deputy director of the MoIT's American Market Department
stressed several trade barriers, including strict requirements in terms
of foodstuff and hygiene safety on Vietnamese commodities, especially
agricultural products and foodstuffs. He said to promote export to the
US market, Vietnam needs to improve trading capabilities of export
businesses in terms of Information Technology and human resources.
Vietnamese enterprises should also intensify market infiltrations,
reduce costs, establish more join-ventures and especially make good
preparations for opportunities brought by the Trans Pacific Partnership
Agreement.
As for the Asia-Pacific market,
Dao Ngoc Chuong, Deputy Director of MoIT's Asia-Pacific Department said
to promote export development and equalize the trade balance, Vietnam
needs to develop support industries and facilitate to the utmost the
State-run Groups to invest in large projects in Vietnam and promote
development of production sectors supporting export.
Also at the forum, Jean Jacques
Bouflet, the head of the trade and economic affairs section at the
delegation of the EU to Vietnam mentioned exploitation of tax
preferential treatment by Vietnamese enterprises. He said the EU is a
potential market for Vietnam's export, however, Vietnamese enterprises
have not exploited those potentials, especially in term of the tax
preferential treatments. He also warned that in the coming time,
neighboring countries such as Laos and Cambodia will also benefit from
EU's preferential treatments, therefore will increase competitiveness
with the Vietnamese commodities. The Vietnam-EU Free Trade Area (FTA)
agreement is under negotiation and if it was signed, it would create
more favorable conditions for Vietnam's exports to this market.
Vietrade 's Director General Do
Thang Hai said the forum was a necessary trade promotion activity to
guarantee successful implementation of the export plan in 2013, which
was expected to post a 10 percent growth compared with 2012; control a
trade deficit at a level of eight percent of the export revenue and in
the long time shorten the roadmap for reducing the excess of imports
over exports by 2020 according to the Prime Ministerial Decision
950/QD-TTg dated on July 25, 2012.
As Vietnam is integrating more
deeply into the global economy, it is a top and important mission to
promote sustainable export development. To achieve this target, Vietnam
needs to find solutions to production development, boost economic
restructuring, focusing on improving quality, productivity and value of
export products. It should also adopt appropriate policies to develop
support industries and associate development of material region with
production, processing and export. In addition, it needs to find
solutions to boost trade promotion programs with a particular
concentration on the FTAs with key and potential markets, guaranteeing
stable output markets for Vietnamese exports./.
