The participants discussed the state of Viet Nam’s economy and put forward a number of new ideas as well as suggested policy measures concerning opportunities for economic restructuring and growth recovery ( i.e. restructuring of SOEs, publicinvestment andfinancial system). Many solutions were of good reference values for policy makers as well as state management and enterprises involved in economic reform processes.

Representing CIEM, Dr Nguyen Dinh Cung, Acting President said ‘The economic restructuring master plan has defined a relatively clear and strict framework for deployment of economic restructuring and growth model transformation. And what have been achieved from the economic restructuring up to now were simply initial results. There remain many difficulties and challenges in implementation’. A big number of solutions have been proposed. Dr Nguyen Dinh Cung however emphasised ‘the need of quickly shifting the focus of economic restructuring policies from aggregate demand management to supply-side reforming solutions of the economy’.

On behalf of GIZ Macroeconomic Reform Programme, Dr Michael Krakowski, Chief Technical Advisor underlined that with the goal of strengthening market-oriented institutions in Viet Nam, the Programme focuses on the macroeconomic reform for a sustainable growth and development of Viet Nam’s economy in the coming time. He also stressed that the outcomes of the Forum are valuable contributions for Viet Nam to continue its economic reform processes allowing sustainable growth.
