
Master plan on developing key central economic region approved

The region is planned to reach an 8% economic growth annually by 2015 and 9% in the 2016-2020 period. The average gross domestic product per capita is expected to be VND80 million ($3,600), approximately to 1.1-1.2 times compared to the country’s average level.
Resources will be focused on developing potential sea-based industries and turning oil refinery into an industrial pillar of the region while electronics, IT, support and processing industries, garment, textile and footwear will be gradually enhanced.
Large industrial centers will be formed in Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces, together with industrial clusters along routes connecting the region with highland provinces and urban areas in the countryside.
Medium and small-scaled industry will also be developed by applying appropriate advanced technologies in line with each locality’s conditions, along with encouraging the development of traditional handicraft, construction material production, wood furniture and food processing.
In addition, local advantages and potential in tourism, port services and logistics will be promoted, in order to become a region with attractive destinations connected to domestic and regional tourism attraction system.
