As many as 5.68 million tons of rice were sold abroad in 10 months, earning US$2.59 billion, up 1.2%.
Meanwhile, the nation made US$3.1 billion from exporting 1.49 million tons of coffee, up 37.1 % in volume and up 33.5% in value.
The exports of rubber and wood and wooden products obtained US$1.45 billion and US$4.98 billion, respectively.
According to the Viet Nam Aquatic Sustainable Development Program in 2016-2020, the fisheries sector aims to grow 7-8% on average per year, said Vice-head of the Directorate of Fisheries Pham Anh Tuan.
Viet Nam strives for an aquatic output of 7 million tons and an export value of US$11 billion from the product by 2020.
The program, divided into the 2016-2018 period and the 2019-2020 period, is estimated to require around VND54,000 billion.
Last year, Viet Nam’s total aquatic output was 5.9 million tons, contributing to the sector's average growth rate of 7.3% per year in the 2004-2013 period.
