
VN-EEU FTA: Nearly 10,000 tariff lines eliminated, reduced (08/7)

The EEU is a potential market, which is suitable for Viet Nam’s products, head of the World Trade Organization Center Nguyen Thi Thu Trang said, adding that this is the first Agreement of the EEU.
In terms of garment, 82% of the tariff lines will be reduced or eliminated. Of the figure, 42% will be completely abolished in 10 years.
Reduction and elimination will be applied for 77% of tariff lines for footwear, 100% of tariff lines for handbags, 95% tariff lines for seafood, 76% tariff lines for wood and 100% tariff lines for plastics.
Two-way trade turnover between Viet Nam and the EEU reduced from US$1.564 billion in 2009 to US$995.54 million in 2013.
Viet Nam mainly exports meat, milk, tobacco, beverage, oil and gas, iron and steel, machines and spare parts to the EEU and imports fertilizer, machines, rubber, seafood, vehicles and agricultural products from the EEU.
