Trade deficit touches over US$ 3 bln. in H1 (20/7)

In the January-June period, export valued US$ 77.77 billion (up 9.3%) and import hit US$ 80.84 billion (up 16.7%).

In June, trade generated US$ 28.79 billion, a month-on-month light growth of 0.6%.

In the first half, trade recorded US$ 158.6 billion, seeing a year-on-year increase of 13%.

According to the Viet Nam Customs, the FDI sector earned US$ 100.7 billion in trade in the first half, up 22% in comparison with last year and accounted for 63.5% of the country’s total figure.  

Meanwhile, domestic enterprises ran a total trade value of only US$ 57.9 billion, equivalent to last year's same period figure.

In the two first quarters, Viet Nam traded US$ 105 billion in value with other Asian partners, posting a year-on-year rise of 12.8% and making up the highest density of 66.2%.

In the reviewed time, the US continued to be the biggest export market of Viet Nam with US$ 15.79 billion (up 19.2% against the same period last year); followed by the EU with US$ 14.89 billion (up 12.4%); ASEAN US$ 9.12 billion (down 1.6%); and China US$ 7.73 billion (up 5.2%).

In the first four months, Viet Nam bought  US$ 24.22 billion worth of goods from China, up 23.2% against the same period last year. It also imported commodities worth US$ 17.73 billion from the Republic of Korea (up 31%) and US$ 11.91 billion  from ASEAN (up 5.3%)./.
