The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) recently proposed a group of five solutions to fight dollarisation. According to the MPI, even though the government’s Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP (on key solutions for controlling inflation, stabilising macro-economy, and ensuring social welfare) and government’s Resolution No. 02/NQ-CP (on key solutions for controlling inflation, stabilising macro-economy and ensuring social welfare) have been positively implemented, it is necessary to conduct new measures on anti-dollarisation in favour of macro-economic stability.

Substandard workforce: The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications' statistics show that the IT industry earned revenue of an estimated VND57.2 trillion in 2010, up 44.6 percent from 2009. Of this, the software industry yielded VND9 trillion (up 73 percent) and the hardware industry brought in VND48.2 trillion (up 40.28 percent). There are 29,000 people working in city-based IT businesses, while domestic IT businesses in Ho Chi Minh City numbered 9,091. Sufficient, high quality workforce is always one of the top priorities in the city's IT industry.

VAT and Enterprise Income Tax Decree Improvement Suggestions (23/3)

On March 10 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), coordinating with the Ministry of Finance, sponsored a seminar on VAT (value added tax) and enterprise income tax-related difficulties in the implementation of Decree 123/2008/ND-CP and Decree 124/2008/ND-CP to increase businesses' comfort in related tax laws' observance. Seminar participants gave many suggestions for the decrees' improvement.
