UNESCO World Congress Reveals Business Opportunities (20/7)

The Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations (VFUA) will host the 8th World Congress and the 30th anniversary of the foundation of World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (WFUCA) in Hanoi from August 18 to 22. Apart from major events such as an international festival and exhibition on Vietnam's cultural, scientific and educational achievements, a seminar will also take place on this occasion to present Vietnamese projects, businesses and businesspeople. This important event is expected to catch the attention from delegates, business associations and businesspeople at home and abroad. Vietnam Economic News' reporter Minh Ky spoke with Nguyen Ngoc Bach, the deputy head of the Organizing Board for the Seminar on Presentation of the Vietnamese Projects, Businesses and Businesspeople.

Interest rates won’t decrease in immediate time (20/7)

Some media channels and the reports by some investment institutions have mentioned the downward trend of bank interest rates in recent days. However, bankers have expressed their surprise about the information, saying that the interest rates won’t decrease in the immediate time, because the inflation rate remains very high.

Transfer pricing, the process where multinationals shift their revenue and profits to markets where taxes are lower than in Vietnam, has become common among many foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) recently. HCMC’s Tax Department has also found local businesses taking advantage of transfer pricing to evade taxes. Investigation and tax collection is not easy, though, as Vietnam still lacks measures to cope with the violation.
